For the past 8 years, I’ve embraced a solo lifestyle, honing my skills in self-sufficiency and simplifying my life to steer clear of the consumerist rat race. With just one junior team job, I’ve prioritized keeping things uncomplicated. However, when my dad passed away earlier this year, a sudden financial burden weighed on my shoulders.

Realizing the need for financial independence without tying myself down to a single company, I reflected on my past experiences. Two years ago, I juggled three jobs just to scrape by and maintain my visa status. After seven years of this relentless hustle, I reached a breaking point. I knew it was time to hit pause, reassess what truly drives me, and figure out how to turn my passions into a livelihood.

These past couple of years have been a whirlwind of self-discovery, marked by both challenges and growth. Breaking free from old habits is no easy feat, especially after being trapped in a hamster wheel for so long. Yet, amidst the struggle, I unexpectedly found love — with someone who is my polar opposite.

My boyfriend and I are like yin and yang, drawn together by our differences. While it’s exhilarating, it’s also a challenge that we’re both committed to facing head-on. Despite our contrasting personalities, we’re dedicated to learning from each other, even if it means stepping out of our comfort zones. As an introverted Cancerian, being with his extroverted Aquarian self has pushed me to shed my shell and embrace new experiences.

Navigating through eight years of singlehood has been a journey of self-discovery and adaptation. Life threw me a curveball with my father’s passing, prompting a reevaluation of my financial responsibilities. Seeking freedom from traditional employment, I ventured into online avenues, aiming to maintain flexibility without sacrificing my independence.

Reflecting on my past struggles of juggling multiple jobs, I realized the need to slow down and pursue passions that could also provide income. Through this journey, I’ve undergone significant personal growth, breaking free from old patterns and embracing new experiences. Amidst it all, I found love in a partner who challenges and complements me in equal measure.

As an introverted Cancerian, being with my extroverted Aquarian partner has pushed me out of my comfort zone, facilitating invaluable self-discovery. Together, we navigate the complexities of our differences, learning and growing with each other.

In conclusion, my journey from solo living to embracing side hustles and love underscores the importance of self-reflection, adaptation, and openness to new experiences. It’s a continuous process of learning and evolving, but one that ultimately leads to greater fulfillment and happiness.
